Cecily has been working in marketing, PR, and event coordination for over fifteen years. As the internet changed the picture in the marketing industry, Cecily found herself immersed in the world of social media, and made the obvious connection between social media and marketing early on.

Since 2008, Cecily has used her highly successful blog and social media presence as well as her influence and access to create social media campaigns and blogger outreach projects for multiple organizations. In addition, Cecily does Social Media 101 and Momosphere 101 presentations to organizations, and speaks extensively about social media at conferences. Cecily is also gifted at personal consultations to guide newcomers in social media and helping them market their products, books, or websites.

Through her personal blog Uppercase Woman, Cecily has become a staple of the mommy blogging scene. She's well known for her irreverent wit and willingness to tackle the most controversial of subjects. Cecily has spoken extensively about social media, and will be moderating a panel at BlogHer10 as well as speaking about Social Media at the 4th Annual Women, Addiction & Recovery Conference in Chicago, at the Type-A Mom Conference, and has been invited to speak to a social media group in France this fall. Create results-oriented sales and marketing copy for both print and digital media, marketing packages, and web content for various organizations. In 2006, incorporated SEO techniques into web content. Became full-time freelance in May 2007. Additionally, since 2004, have authored a personal blog that currently receives over 100,000 hits per month and use this experience to work as social media consultant, particularly in crafting pitches to bloggers in the Momosphere.

September 2002 to May 2007

Opened a new retail art gallery that exclusively sold student and alumnae artwork. Store considered a major marketing and public relations tool to help increase awareness of the College and maintain relationships with alumnae artists. Created a marketing campaign to target multiple audiences, including the public and alumnae. Built from the ground up an online presence, including online sales capacity and large online database of available artwork for sale by alumnae that was offsite. Worked with college’s communications department to generate press and advertising, and managed annual advertising budget. Worked closely with college president to facilitate relationships between the Shop and high level donors and college supporters. Consulted on physical appearance of shop and merchandise, and helped staff and student workers coordinate and maintain relationships with artists.
