This last weekend I spoke at one of the best digital media conferences available in my city -- Podcamp Philly. I spoke about "Demystifying the Momosphere," which both broke down the mom blogging community and also addressed how to create pitches that will encourage them to participate in your campaigns.
You'll find my presentation below. It comes without my commentary, of course, but if you want that you need to book me to speak. Email me at Cecily@CecilyKellogg.com for more information about how I can help your organization understand how the mom blogging community works.

This post makes me want to be there to have a discussion with you! Let's pretend I'm there raising my hand!
My thoughts: if I can tell I'm getting some sort of generalized press pitch I will delete the email without opening it. Which means your first line matters. If I can't see something that looks like a VERY specific email to me, with a very specific offer, I will delete it from my iphone. So marketers have about 5 words to hook me enough to open it, and then a 3 second scan to pull me in. Tough, but there you go.
And bottom line, if you're not offering me something I want, I don't care. I don't know you, I don't have a relationship with you. If you're not a small artist, and you're a big brand rep, and I'm not interested in doing you favors. Mention paying me or doing me favors, and then maybe we'll talk.
Also, mentioning you love my blog, and then telling me you particularly loved A POST FROM THIS WEEK, just tells me you don't actually read my blog, and I hit delete.
Ok, that aside, I'm totally fascinated with this presentation. Lots of stuff I didn't know or think about, since I'm working in such a small (and different) niche.
